In July 2007 the documentary started airing on Syfy channel. It followed the trio in haunted places in and around Nevada. The documentary received the Grand Jury prize at the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival.

The show was later developed into a fully fledged series with the first season premiering in December 2008. Throughout the making of the series, the filming crew has faced paranormal experiences themselves for example during the shooting of the fourth season Zak suffered several scratch marks on his back which he says resulted from a confrontation with ‘bad spirits’.

Zak Bagans has also faced criticism from several paranormal enthusiasts citing that together with his team they use severe methods to deal with the ‘bad spirits’.

Zak, however, responded saying that his team doesn’t use these confrontational and provocative tactics on all the spirits, they only use them to provoke the bad spirits that harm human beings.

Zak Bagans decided to give other people a chance to experience the spine chilling feeling of the spirit world by initiating The Haunted Museum located in Las Vegas. It’s an 11,000 square feet property that was formerly owned by Cyril S. Wengert and was built in 1938.

Throughout the years, the house has been known to be haunted by spirits and it is believed they belonged to the former owners of the house and the spirits have been terrorizing other occupants of the house. Las Vegans claim that dark rituals took place in the houses’ basement during the 1970s.

People visiting The Haunted Museum go through creepy hallways and also secret passways into more than 30 rooms that resemble the rooms in Hollywood horror rooms set the stage for frightening facts.

Among the hundreds of terrifying possessions, museum-goers can even peek inside the VW death van in which Dr. Jack Kevorkian ended the suffering of terminally ill patients as well as get a close-up look at the “Propofol chair” from Michael Jackson’s death room.

Perhaps most unsettling, the original staircase from Indiana’s “Demon House,” notorious for powerful paranormal activity before being demolished in 2014. The wooden banister and creaky steps now stand in a lit corner, resting on a blanket of dirt from the location.

Following its installation, a group of construction workers walked off the job and refused to come back. Visitors to sign a waiver stating they understand the risks before entering.
Children under the age of 16 are not allowed to get into this facility. They can, however, learn all about the haunted collection filmed entirely at the museum in Ghost Adventures – Artifacts on Travel Channel.
