Virginia Thomas Biography

Virginia Thomas was born on February 23, 1957. She grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. Thomas is the youngest of her four children.

She was born to Donald Lamp, a successful engineer, and Marjorie Lamp, a stay home mother.

Virginia Thomas Education

Thomas attended Westside High School in Omaha. She was a member of the student government, debate club, and the Republican club. Her ambition was to be a member of Congress.
Virginia enrolled in a woman’s college in Virginia because of its distance to Washington, D.C. She later transferred to the University of Nebraska and then to Creighton University to be closer to her boyfriend.
Thomas attained a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Business Communication and a Juris Doctor from Creighton University. She attained the Juris Doctor while working as a legislative aide for Congressman Hal Daub.

Virginia Thomas Career

1981-1995

Thomas moved to Washington D.c and worked for congressman Daub for 18 months. After attaining her degree from Creighton University School of law in 1984, she worked one more year for Daub as his Legislative Director. Fro 1985 to 1989 she worked as an attorney and Labor relations specialist at the United States Chamber of Commerce. Later in 1989, she became the manager of Employee Relations at the Chamber of Commerce.

1991-2009

Virginia returned to government service in the Legislative Affairs Office of the United States Department of Labor.
That year, Clarence Thomas, her husband was a nominee to fill the seat on the U. S Supreme Court. The seat was left by Justice Thurgood Marshall. Thomas attended the Senate confirmation hearings and stood by her husband.
Her next job was a policy Analyst for Congressman Dick Armey. While Thomas was working for Armey in 1994 conflict of interest was raised. In 2000, she was working for the Heritage Foundation.

2009-Present

Late in 2009, she started a non-profitable group called Liberty Central. The group is to Organize activists, issue score cards for Congress members, and to be in elections.
She was identified as a key member of Groundswell in July 2013. Groundswell is a coalition of right-wing activists and journalists attempting to make political changes.
Virginia Thomas serves on the Advisory Council of the Organization Turning point.

Virginia Thomas Marriage

Thomas is the wife of Clarence Thomas. Clarence is an American Judge, Lawyer and government official who currently serves as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. The two exchanged vows in 1987. They currently live in Virginia, US.
