Vince Staples is an American rapper and actor from the hip hop group “Cutthroat Boyz” alongside fellow rappers Aston Matthews and Joey Fatts also from California.
Staples was once a close associate of Odd Future, in particular Mike G and Earl Sweatshirt. He is currently signed to Blacksmith Records, ARTium Recordings and Def Jam Recordings.

Staples was born in Compton, California. He later moved to North Long Beach after his mother decided she wanted to move away from Compton due to the high crime rates. Staples is the youngest of five siblings, two brothers and three sisters. Staples grew up in poverty.

During high school, Staples’ mom sent him to Atlanta to stay with one of his sisters. He attended high school there for six months. After returning to Southern California, Staples attended other high schools: Jordan High School in Long Beach, Mayfair High School in Bellflower, Opportunity High School homeschooling, Esperanza High School in Anaheim, and Kennedy High School, among others.
Staples has been upfront regarding his involvement with gangs during his childhood, and is involved with speaking to the youth in his community about the dangers of the gang lifestyle.

Staples kick started his rapping career with guest appearance on albums by Odd Future. He was also featured on songs by Syd tha Kyd, Mike G and Earl Sweatshirt. His first solo mixtape “Shyne Coldchain Vol. 1” was self-released in December 2011.
A second mixtape titled “Winter In Prague” was released in October. He collaborated with rapper/Producer Mac Miller on the 2013 mixtape “Stolen Youth”. It featured Ab-Soul on the song “Killin Y’all ” and Schoolboy Q on the track “Back Sellin Crack”. A second installments of the “Shyne Coldchain” mixtape was released in March 2014.
He released his debut EP “Hell Can Wait” was released in October 2014. It marked his first commercial release. The EP featured guest vocal from Aston Matthews and Teyana Taylor.
Vince PhotoHis studio debut album “Summertime 06” was released in 2015 June, The album peaked at number 3 on the Top R&B\Hip Hop Albums chart. It was led by the songs “Senorita” , “Get Paid” and “Norf Norf”. Staples was named to the 2015 XXL Freshman class. he also featured in the Comedy-Drama Film “Dope”.
A second EP titled “Prima Donna” was released in August 2016 and dropped his second album “Big Fish Theory” in June 2017. It charged at number 16 on the BillBoard 200. The album spawned the singles “BagBak” featuring Ken Rogers, “Big Fish” featuring Juicy J and “Rain Come Down” featuring Ty Dolla sign.
