Trystan Andrew Terrell born in 1997, is a former UNCC student and the suspect in a fatal shooting on the campus of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Terrell is a registered member of the Libertarian Party, according to the North Carolina State Board of Elections. Trystan is the son of Craig Terrell and Robyn Ann Terrell .His mother, Robyn Terrell, passed away on December 18, 2011 after losing a battle to breast cancer. She was 47 years old, at the time of her death.
Trystan Andrew Terrell UNC Charlotte Shooting
The shooting occurred on April 30, 2019, on the final day of classes in the Spring semester. A total of six people were wounded and two were shot dead. Three people, sustained life-threatening injuries while one other person is stable. The victims of the shooting are being treated at Carolinas Medical Center Main Hospital in Charlotte. The two deceased victims are believed to be white males who were students at UNCC.
The shooting took place on the same night as rapper Waka Flocka Flame was expected to perform at Jerry Richardson Stadium on campus. The concert doors opened at 6 p.m., just before the shooting was first reported. According to Chief Baker the officers had just finished a briefing about the event when the gunfire began. The Waka Flocka later confirmed via his Instagram page that the free concert had been canceled.
Terrell is said to have made a full confession and that he allegedly researched the 2012 Sandy Hook shooting. However his motive for shooting is still a mystery.
Speaking to the authorities, he said; “I just went into a classroom and shot the guys.” He said this as officers led him away in handcuffs.
Trystan is on the autism spectrum but clever as can be, and he never showed any interest in guns or other weapons before.
According to the police Trystan who was armed with a handgun that was purchased legally, killed two people and wounded four others at the school before campus police disarmed and arrested him.
He was immediately booked into the Mecklenburg County jail on two counts of murder, four counts of attempted murder, possessing and firing a weapon on educational property, and assault with a deadly weapon.
