Rogen’s acting debut was in Apatow’s Freaks and Geeks, a cult hit series first released in 1999 as Ken Miller, a cynical, acerbic “freak”. Revolving around a group of teenagers’ lives, Freaks and Geeks first aired in 1999.
Rogen also served as a staff writer to the short-lived production.

In 2007, Rogen breakthrough came when Universal Studios greenlit him for the lead in yet another Apatow production: Knocked Up (2007), a romantic comedy that follows the repercussions of a drunken one-night stand between his slacker character and Katherine Heigl’s just-promoted media personality that results in an unintended pregnancy.

Rogen’s projects in 2008 included Jimmy Hayward’s Horton Hears a Who!, an animated film based on the Dr. Seuss book, that Rogen voiced a character in, and the fantasy film The Spiderwick Chronicles, in which he voiced a hobgoblin.[48] Rogen additionally co-wrote Drillbit Taylor, also produced by Apatow and starring Owen Wilson as the homeless titular character.

In 2013, Rogen along with screenwriting collaborator Evan Goldberg made their directorial debut with This Is the End, a comedy featuring Rogen, Jay Baruchel, James Franco, Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, and Danny McBride playing fictional versions of themselves facing a global apocalypse. The film received positive reviews and was number two in the box office on its opening weekend.[84][85] Rogen recurred on the revived fourth season of the comedy series Arrested Development in May 2013, playing a young George Bluth, Sr. (played by Jeffrey Tambor) in several flashback scenes.

Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt join Aaron Sorkin’s ‘The Trial of the Chicago 7’

Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt have signed up to join the cast of Aaron Sorkin’s historical drama ‘The Trial of the Chicago 7’.

The story focuses on the infamous 1969 trial of a group of counterculture protesters charged with conspiracy and inciting a riot following the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Rogen and Gordon-Levitt will join a cast of Eddie Redmayne who plays play, anti-war activist, Tom Hayden, Sascha Baron Cohen as Youth International Party co-founder Abbie Hoffman, Jonathan Majors as Bobby Seale, Alex Sharp as activist, Rennie Davis. Rogan will play the role of fellow founding YIP member, Jerry Rubin while Gordon-Levitt will play prosecuting attorney, Richard Schultz. It’s also reported that Michael Keaton is wanted for the role of William Kunstler.

Sorkin has penned the script and will take the director chair, so expect a serving of meaty and clever dialogue. Marc Platt and Matt Jackson will produce.

Rogen has been spending a lot of time featuring in TV series such as ‘Friends From College’, ‘Drunk History’ and ‘Future Man’. His upcoming movie projects include voicing Puumba in the upcoming remake of ‘The Lion King’, David Gordon Green’s ‘Newsflash’ as Walter Cronkite and ‘Long Shot’ with Charlize Theron and Alexander Skarsgard.

Gordon-Levitt was last seen in ‘Snowdon’ and lent his voice to ‘Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi’ as Slowen Lo. His upcoming projects include the comedy musical ‘Wingmen with Channing Tatum, which he also directs, and the currently untitled Henry Joost, Ariel Schulman sci-fi thriller.
