Sarah Michelle Gellar is an American actress, producer and entrepreneur who made her acting debut in the film An Invasion of Privacy which was a made-for-television film. She got this role after being spotted by an agent at the age of four in New York City back in 1983.
Gellar was born the only child of Rosellen her mother who was a nursery school teacher. Her father was Arthur Gellar who was a garment worker. Both of her parents were Jewish. Her parents later divorced in 1984 when she was only seven years old. She then ended up in her mother’s arms who raised her on the city’s Upper East Side.
Gellar lost all contact with him while she continued growing up with her mother. She remained estranged to her father until his demise in 2001. During her childhood, Gellar was a working child and also a competitive figure skater where she finished third place in a New York City regional competition. She also did taekwondo where she earned her first black belt.
She used to study at the Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School where she had earned a partial scholarship. She was not always in class for most of the time at the school because she had to work simultaneously in several acting projects. she then briefly attended the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts.
However, she had to drop out due to her acting obligations. Gellar went on to graduate from the Professional Children’s School in 1994 where she was a Straight A student. In her senior year as a student, Gellar had to complete a guided study because she spent all of her significant time working on the soap All My Children.
Her original television breakthrough came in 1993 where she originated the role of Kendall Hart on the ABC daytime soap opera All my Children. This role made her win the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series back in 1995. From there Gellar received widespread recognition for her features as Buffy Summers on the WB series Buffy The Vampire Slayer.

Gellar began her acting career at the age of four after a New York City Agent spotted. She then auditioned for a chance feature in the TV series An Invasion of Privacy. Her fellow cast members were Valerie Harper, Carol Kane and Jeff Daniels. She really impressed the directors when she read both hers and harper’s line of the series.
She eventually appeared in a commercial for Burger King in which she character criticized McDonald’s and claimed to only eat at Burger King. This made McDonald’s to sign a lawsuit that banned her from eating at the food chain. She claimed that she missed a lot of things kids do at McDonald’s because of the ban during that time.
Gellar then worked as a model for Wilhemina which opened doors to her numerous television commercials. She also played minor roles back in the 1980s and also guest starred in various television series. She then appeared alongside Matthew Broderick and Eric Stoltz in the Broadway production The Widow Claire. After she moved to Los Angeles following her departure from All My Children, she read the script for Joss Whedon’s television series Buffy The Vampire Slayer.
Apart from acting an being a celebrity, Gellar is also an advocate for various charities. These charities include breast cancer research. Project Angel Food, Habitat for Humanity and CARE.

Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Personal “Reminder Not to Overeat” on Thanksgiving Sparks Backlash
Sarah Michelle Gellar did not totally slay this post.
Days ahead of Thanksgiving, the Buffy, the Vampire Slayer alum ignited criticism and backlash online when she shared a “reminder” to herself about overeating before the big holiday.
On Monday, she posted a few professional shots of herself sporting a bra and underwear with a collared shirt draped over her arms. “I’m just going to pin these up all over my house as a reminder not to overeat on Thursday #thanksgivingprep,” she wrote in what sounded like an attempted joke.
However, some Internet users weren’t laughing. Instead, critics took issue with the comment and weighed in. “Skinny doesn’t make you beautiful or healthy. Overeating one day isn’t going to hurt you. healthy is a state of mind not a state of body,” one woman wrote.
“Diet culture if a hell of a drug, girl,” another added. “Buffy, please don’t promote diet culture. Not the kind of message we should be sending,” someone else asked. “Usually love your posts but I’m seriously against ‘thinspiration.’ It’s a core of most eating disorders,” a fan wrote.
Needless to say, Gellar’s post did not go over well with some fans and incited further debate about eating and health.
However, some fellow celebs did have the actress’ back. “KAWEEN,” Jersey Shore’s Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi commented. “@sarahmgellar is it weird if I pin these pics of you in my house too?” Tiffani Thiessen playfully responded. “You mean you don’t already?” Gellar answered.
“Are you KIDDING ME!?!” Debra Messing added while Shannen Doherty simply added a few flame emojis.
Like any online debate, not every fan was offended. As one woman wrote, “Honestly, same.”
Meanwhile, Gellar soon caught wind of the mounting criticism and issued a statement to clarify her intention in the comments. “It’s come to my attention that some people think I was ‘fat shaming’ with this post. That could not be further from my intentions. I love Thanksgiving and unfortunately my eyes are often bigger than my stomach, and I tend to eat so much I make myself sick. This was a joking reminder to me not to do that,” she explained. “I’m terribly sorry that people were offended by my attempt at humor. Anyone that knows me, knows I would never intentionally “shame” anyone on any basis. I am a champion of all people.”
