Rachel Kim Biography
Rachel Kim is an American journalist and reporter who joined CBS2 and KCAL9 as a general assignment reporter in March 2009.
She earned her master’s degree in broadcast journalism and bachelor’s degrees in communication and English from the University of Southern California.
Throughout her career, she has been recognized for her reporting and community service. In 2013, while at CBS2/KCAL9, she received a Golden Mike Award for Best TV News Reporting.
When she is not covering the news, she enjoys traveling, exploring the Southland’s newest restaurants, playing piano and spending time with her family and friends.

Prior to joining CBS Los Angeles, she worked for WSB-TV in Atlanta as a reporter, bureau chief, and fill-in anchor for three years.
As Gwinnett County Bureau Chief, she established the bureau along with my photographer and helped develop it during my time there.
Rachel was responsible for covering one of the largest counties in the Atlanta metropolitan area.
She enterprised daily stories while generating and maintaining county contacts and sources, which often resulted in exclusive stories. She also served as a fill-in anchor for weekend evening newscasts.
Prior to that, Rachel worked in Oklahoma City at KOCO-TV and began her career at KAMR-TV/KCIT-TV as a weekend anchor and reporter in Amarillo, Texas.
At KOCO-TV, Rachel covered the crime/police beat and severe weather in addition to general assignment stories.
She also served as a primary fill-in anchor on all newscasts.
When Rachel worked as a weekend anchor/reporter/producer at KAMR/KCIT-TV, she anchored and produced the weekend evening newscasts on KCIT-TV.
She was also a general assignment reporter for KAMR/KCIT weekdays. Among her duties was, she was a weekly franchise reporter for a series called “Daycare Decisions.”
Rachel was also a member of the investigative team, earning recognition from the Amarillo Police Department’s Homicide Unit for my work on a local unsolved murder.
