Poppy began her career as an intern at CBS while still attending Columbia University and after graduation, she continued working for CBS MarketWatch and as an assistant producer. She later became an anchor and reporter for NY1 News’ Local Edition. She covered Staten Island and New Jersey, including reports on local politics, the economy, and local cultural events.
In September 2017 she joined Forbes.com Video Network where she worked in diverse field. She covered news related to fashion, entertainment and business topics. She later began hosting some show.

Poppy Harlow Criticism
In 2013 she was criticized for sympathizing with Malik Richmond who was convicted of raping a sixteen-year-old along with his friend. Malik was a football player from Steuben Ville, Ohio, who played for his high school team.
Harlow said it was: “Incredibly difficult, even for an outsider like me, to watch what happened as these two young men that had such promising futures, star football players, very good students, literally watched as they believed their lives fell apart … when that sentence came down, [Ma’lik] collapsed in the arms of his attorney. … He said to him, ‘My life is over. No one is going to want me now.’”
There was a petition asking CNN to apologize for Poppy sympathizing with the rapist which received over 250,000 signatures within two days of CNN’s report.

Poppy appears on PewDiePie’s show, Pew New, she made her first appearance on 16th June 2018 in a video titled “MEMES WILL GET BANNED!”. Her unique action is to make a popping sound with her mouth and finger. Poppy was introduced after Gloria Borger was no longer an anchor with Pew News.
Poppy displayed jealousy and hatred towards Gloria during the PewDiePie Pew News episode titled “TANACON GOT CANCELLED” in which she called Gloria a “Skank”.
On 10th September 2018, Gloria returned as the main host and Poppy role as the regular presenter was given back to Borger in her unexpected return. Poppy hardly appeared in most of the episodes at the end of 2018 although a news anchor by the name of “Poppy Gloria” has been temporarily hosting the news show, in some of Borger’s absences. It is unknown whether “Poppy Gloria” was an alias to either Harlow or Borger, or she’s an entirely different person.
On 18th February 2019 she hosted in the Pew News episode titled “James Charles oPSIE, Shane = OP{SIE, ROBLOX ADMITS OPSIE WOAH!” and even called herself “Poppy Gloria” at some parts during the episode.

In October 2018 while Poppy and Jim Sciutto were anchoring CNN Newsroom at 10:09 ET when an alarm went off near the studio set after a bomb was found in the CNN New York’s building mailroom and the entire building was evacuated.
Harlow and Sciutto were able to lose their mics and their IFBs with the help from their studio crew. They were able to bolt from the desk and run down six flights of stairs while calling sources and then—with the help of their production team—somehow continued to anchor the broadcast from West 58th Street. From a cell phone.
Their coverage went viral and earned praise from CNN colleagues and journalists at other networks.
