Miguel Jontel Pimentel is an American r&b songwriter, singer and record producer. Best known as Miguel who started his music at the age of thirteen.



Miguel is an American citizen who was born and raised in San Pedro, Los Angeles.


He(was born October 25, 1985) is 33 years old. Miguel has been active since 1998 up to date.


He is 5’6 ” feet.


He is born to an African American mother and a Mexican American father. His parents divorced when he was at the age of eight. Miguel’s introduction to listening to r&b music was from her mother.


Personal life

He is married to Nazanin Mandi(a model) with whom he has been in a relationship since 2005. The couple married on November 24, 2018, at Hummingbird Nest Ranch in Santa Susan, California.

Miguel wanted to become a jerk dancer at the age of 5. However, at 13 years he began pursuing Jerk dancing and Music as his career. At 14 years, he started writing songs of his own and coming up with new ideas, this was in 1999.

Beginning of Career(2000-2006)

Miguel begins his career journey with Drop squad production in 2000 after signing a deal. He then auditioned in 2004 to be apart of the group Fatty Koo, albeit been rejected by the Colombia Records, he was signed in by the Independent Record Label Black Ice and started working on his studio album. After Black Ice released the single, Getcha hands up with a video in debut on 106 & Park, Miguel decided to walk away from it. This was in 2006.

Signing and Belated debut(2007-2011)

For nearly a year, Miguel’s manager submitted several songs to music Morgul Mark Pitts. He received the song “Sure Thing” from Miguel in 2007, a song which Miguel described as a highly personal one that no one was supposed to hear, and in November 2007,  he signed a recording contract with Jive Records. In Jive Records, he recorded his debut album which was sued by Black Ice for breach of contract. Consequently, Miguel’s album was not released for two years.

In the following three years, Miguel contributed to other singers songs like Usher’s Here I Stand and Raymond V. Raymond as well as Asher Roth’s Asleep in the Bread Aisle and Music Soulchild’sIfULeave”.

Album All I Want Is You.

The protracted dispute contract with Black Ice was solved. Thereafter, Miguel released his album “All I Want is You”(November 2010). It initially performed poorly at the start on the Billboard top 200 chats debuting at number 109. It became a sleeper hit as it re-entered the Billboard chat at a span of 22weeks, peaking at number 37 on May 14, 2011. The album sold 404,000 copies in the U.S after spending 45 weeks on the chart.

Label change, Second album, And Controversy(2012-2013)

Label Change

After Jive was shut down and absorbed RCA Records, Pitts was named the President of Urban Music receiving a new marketing team and Miguel been moved to RCA. He released his second album Kaleidoscope Dream(October 2, 2012). The album debuted at number three on the Billboard 200, selling 71,000 copies in its first week. And as of February 2013, in accordance with Neilsen Soundscan, The album had sold 322,000 copies.  With time the album’s lead single“Adorn” had become a sleeper hit on Urban radio, selling 190,000 copies.

Beautiful featuring Mariah Carey

In August 2013, the new single Beautiful with Mariah Carey became Miguel’s third million sellers in the U.S, followed Adorn and Sure Thing.

Miguel performed “Adorn” in the 2013  Billboard awards and with a failed attempt to leap across the stage, he injured two female audiences. The accident became an immediate internet sensation which also became a subject of controversy from the show’s producers as they claimed that they had denied the singer permission to attempt the leap.

 Wildheart, War & Leisure and Te Lo Dije(2014-present)

Album Wildheart

On June 30, 2015, Miguel released his third album titled, Wildheart. And in December, he released 3-track EP NWA.HollywoodDreams.Coffee in promotion for the album. The album was nominated in the Grammy for the best contemporary album.

Album War & Leisure 

Miguel’s fourth album, War & Leisure was released on December 1, 2017. Major hit single of the album been “Remember me”.

Te Lo Dije

It was revealed that Miguel was working on Spanish album and in April 2019, he released the Spanish EP Te Lo Dije. Te Lo Dije peaked at number 11 on the Top Latin Albums chart, becoming his first entry there.
