Marty Snider Personal Life
He was raised in High Point, NC, where at the age of 10 he was introduced to racing by his cousin and occasional Sprint Cup Series driver Jay Hedgcock. Snider remembers spending time with Hedgcock, Jeff Burton, Kyle Petty and Phil Parsons during his summers. “I would hang out in the garage, hand them wrenches and generally just get in the way,” Snider said.
“I remember hanging around from the time I was 10 to the time I was about fifteen years old. I would follow those guys around to all the races I could I think that’s when I really fell in love with racing.” He earned a degree in political science from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Sniders’ son Myatt Snider currently drives in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for ThorSport Racing.
Marty Snider Early Career
He worked as a sports reporter for WYFF, the NBC affiliate in Greenville, S.C. from 1993–94 and WGHP in High Point, N.C. from 1991–93. Snider began working for WGHP as an intern and was hired as a sports reporter and was on the air while he was finishing his senior year of college. Since 1994–1997, he worked as a reporter and associate producer for ESPN’s NASCAR Today.
He was CNNSI’s NASCAR reporter from 1998–2002, filing regular reports from every NASCAR event. Since 1995–2000, Snider worked as a pit reporter for the Motor Racing Network’s (MRN) NASCAR radio broadcasts.

He served as a pit reporter for NASCAR on NBC from 1999–2006. Snider in 2006 was a part of the Emmy award winning NBC/TNT NASCAR team that claimed the 2006 “Outstanding Live Sports Series” Emmy. All told, Snider has been a part of eight national Emmy Award winning broadcast teams.
Snider has been a reporter for NBC’s NFL Pre-Game show Football Night in America, NBC’s Rugby 7’s coverage, the US Army All-American Bowl, NBCSN’s College Basketball, PBR, and host of the North American International Auto Show on NBC Sports.
