Lisa Sylvester Biography

Lisa Sylvester is an American Peabody and Emmy award-winning journalist and television correspondent. She previously reported on CNN’s The Situation Room. She joined WPXI, Channel 11 in Pittsburgh on October 2016, anchoring the 6 and 11 p.m. and on WPGH’s 10 p.m. newscast, which is produced by WPXI.


Sylvester started working for WPXI at CNN from 2013 as the network’s cut-in news anchor. She was also assigned as a correspondent for The Situation Room, with Wolf Blitzer, and was also the Washington-based correspondent for the Weekend News on the network.

In her career so far, Sylvester has been a part of KTVI-TV in St. Louis, WMBD-TV in Peoria, and WKRN-TV in Nashville as well. She worked as a reporter at these different news stations and did a brilliant job at all of them.

As a deserving talented journalist, Sylvester has been honored with numerous awards over the years. She has been awarded a Business Emmy Award for the “Exporting America” series. Lisa has also received the prestigious Peabody award because of the significant role that she played during the coverage of the September 11 attacks.

She worked for ABC News from 2000 to 2004, and as the Washington-based correspondent for Lou Dobbs Tonight. She then moved to CNN and she served as a Washington, D.C.-based correspondent for The Situation Room

The gorgeous news reporter is also a member of the National Association of Black Journalists along with The Pittsburgh Black Media Federation.

Sylvester also reports for a series on family-focused topics and has contributed to pieces including supermarket bargain-hunting; a profile of a working mom, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R-WA); and, a special look inside the First Lady’s White House garden with White House chef Sam Kass. Previously, Sylvester served as the Washington-based correspondent for Lou Dobbs Tonight.

Sylvester attended Georgetown University and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in international economics. She then went on to attend Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism and graduated by earning a Master’s degree.

Since she loves keeping her personal life off the public, her relationship status is a complete mystery.

However, according to her Facebook page, Sylvester is a mother to two beautiful children, which indicates that she is most probably a married woman. She has also mentioned that she is very fond of working out and gardening.\

She and her husband are also parents to two older children from her husband’s previous marriage
