In 2003, when Diann Burns left her position at ABC 7, Kathy was given the opportunity to replace her on the 10 o’clock newscast alongside Ron Magers.

This is the newscast that presently has the highest ratings and the most viewers in Chicago. In May of 2016, Magers retired, and shortly thereafter, Kathy began working with Alan Krashesky. Together, they had been together for a total of 13 years.

According to a report published on the 30th of May, 2018, by media critic Robert Feder, Kathy would be leaving ABC7 after spending 28 years working there. She explained her decision to her coworkers in a note, which read, “I want to explore other passions and discover what life is like off the night shift.” On June 12, 2018, Cheryl Burton, who currently hosts the 5 pm and 7 pm shows and contributes to the 10 pm show, was selected to take over for Brock as the host of the 10 pm show. Judy Hsu, who formerly anchored at 11 am and 4 pm, will now also report at 6 pm.
