2012 season

He joined the New England Patriots on September 2nd, 2012 practice squad. He was then promoted to the active roster on November 28th, 2012. He made his debut on December 16th, 2012 during the Patriots’ 41-34 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 15. He was limited to one game as a rookie in 2012.

2013 season

He was released on September 2nd, 2013 as part of their final roster cuts. He was re-signed on September 6th, 2013 after tight end Matthew Mulligan was released. Head coach Bill Belichick named Develin the starting fullback to begin the regular season.

He made his first career start in the Patriots’ 23-21 win against the Buffalo Bills. On December 1, 2013, Develin had two carries for four-yards and scored his first NFL touchdown during a 34-31 win at the Houston Texans. He appeared in all 16 games, starting six and recorded four carries for 10 yards and a touchdown and four receptions for 62 yards.

2014 season

He appeared in all 16 games In 2014, starting in four. He recorded three carries for five yards and six receptions for 43 yards. He recorded a receiving touchdown in the Patriots’ 45-7 win over the Indianapolis Colts in an AFC championship game. The Patriots won Super Bowl XLIX by a score of 28-24 when they played against the Seattle Seahawks. He recorded 1 catch for 6 yards in the Super Bowl.

2015 season

He was placed on season-ending injured reserve on September 1st, 2015, after breaking his right tibia in a preseason game against the Carolina Panthers.

2016 season

He re-signed with the Patriots to a one-year contract on March 7th, 2016. He was part of the Patriots team on February 5th, 2017, that won Super Bowl LI. In the game, he appeared on ten plays on offense and ten on special teams as the Patriots defeated the Atlanta Falcons by a score of 34–28 in overtime.

2017 season

On March 6th, 2017, He signed a two-year contract extension with the Patriots. The deal included a $300,000 signing bonus, $200,000 in guaranteed salary, and a maximum value of $2.85 million.

On December 19th, 2017, He was selected to the Pro Bowl as a starting fullback. He could not play in the Pro Bowl because of his team advancing to Super Bowl LII. The Patriots lost in the Super Bowl when they played against the Philadelphia Eagles by a score of 41-33 without him recording any statistics.

2018 season

On June 14, 2018, he signed a two-year, $3.8 million contract extension with the Patriots through the 2020 season. He helped the Patriots reach Super Bowl LIII where they defeated the Los Angeles Rams 13-3.

On November 30, 2010, the Cincinnati Bengals marked Develin to their training squad. On February 3, 2011, Develin was brought together with his previous lead trainer with the Florida Tuskers after Jay Gruden was contracted to be the Bengals’ new hostile facilitator.

All through preparing camp, Develin sought a list spot as a fullback against Cedric Peerman and Fui Vakapuna. On September 3, 2011, the Cincinnati Bengals deferred Develin, yet marked him to their training squad the following day after he cleared waivers.
