Bradford replacing Michael Jack at WRC
Jackie is returning to WRC, only this time in the top spot — she’s the NBC-owned station’s newly named president and general manager.
Bradford is replacing Michael Jack who, back in June, was promoted to president and GM of NBC’s flagship TV station in New York City, WNBC. Jack had been WRC’s top brass since 2002.
Bradford was WRC’s finance director from 2000-2008, when she was promoted to general manager of the NBC-owned station in San Diego, KNSD. Her tenure there was relatively short — her new job at WRC is effective immediately, NBC announced Tuesday.
Bradford came up through the ranks of NBC News and NBC’s parent General Electric. Prior to WRC, she was an e-Business leader with GE Capital Real Estate Services for two years. That came after stints as Manager of Finance for NBC News and a Financial Analyst for “Today” show. Bradford joined GE in 1995, working in financial management. The University of Virginia grad began her career working on Capitol Hill for Nevada Senator Richard Bryan.
Under Jack, WRC hung on to its position as Washington’s local news leader, despite NBC’s plunge in primetime, including this past season’s late-news-killing “The Jay Leno Show” experiment. Something similar can be said of KNSD under Bradford — that station has managed to grow its market share and maintain its position in the early morning and late news despite NBC’s best efforts.
