Tipp City man honored for saving man’s life

TIPP CITY, Ohio (WKEF/WRGT) – A local USA Truck employee is being called a hero and honored for saving another man’s life.

Ansel Cummings walked into a surprise presentation as dozens gathered to applaud him for his act of bravery.

In early April, Cummings saved an Alabama truck driver’s life after the driver collapsed while delivering a load. Cummings performed CPR on the man and then called 911.

“As I was trying to give directions to the 911 operator on how to get there, I gave him CPR to resuscitate him and keep him from flat-lining before paramedics got there,” Cummings said.

On Thursday, the American Red Cross surprised the Tipp City man by honoring him with the “National Lifesaving Award”.

CEO of USA Truck Inc. and Butler Township EMS awarded Cummings with certificates of recognition.

“It means the world to me. I’ve never been recognized like this before,” Cummings said.

The USA Truck employee said he wants to put positivity back out into the world.

“Any type of negativity weighs on you. There’s plenty of positivity out there. You just have to make it happen,” Cummings said.
