Her younger sister Jen Callahan is an attorney and shareholder at a law firm in Philadelphia. Dawn attended Morovian Academy until she was in the 10th grade. In her two final years in high school, she was a boarding student at the prestigious George school in Newton, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Emerson College in Boston with a bachelor of science in mass communication and broadcast Journalism.

In the first two years of her career, Dawn worked as a reporter and anchor for WFMZ-TV in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She was then picked up by the NBC network, working at WBRE-TV and NBC-10 for over a decade, collectively. During her time at NBC she won three Emmy Awards – one for Outstanding Entertainment Broadcast and two for Best Newscast.
Dawn left NBC for her current position at Fox 29 News in January of 2013. She works as a general assignment reporter, often focusing her stories on her two biggest passions: acts of humanity and animals in need. She also co-anchors the news on Friday and Saturday evenings.
Dawn, Mike and Mike’s former mother in-law, Kate, founded the Max and Lorraine Foundation. It is a non profit aimed at helping kids, in honor of Mike’s late wife and son. The trio also started Camp AsthmaCadabra for kids who could not experience a regular outdoor camp because of their asthma. The foundation was established in 1994 and the camp has been running since 1998.
