Chris Long born Christopher Howard long is an American football defensive end for the Philadelphia Eagles of the National football league.
Chris is the son of Pro Football Hall of fame member Howie long. Chris played college football at Virginia, where he was recognized as a unanimous All American. Chris was chosen by the St. Louis Rams as the second overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft.

Chris played college football at the University of Virginia under coach Al Groh from 2004-2007, while pursuing a degree in sociology. Long was drafted in 2008 NFL Draft as the second overall by the St.Louis Ram.

Frequent Trump critic, Philadelphia Eagles’ Chris Long named NFL’s ‘Man of the Year’
Philadelphia Eagles player Chris Long, a frequent critic of President Trump, was named the Walter Payton “Man of the Year” at the NFL Honors on Saturday.
The defensive end has been recognized by the NFL a number of times for his charitable contributions focusing on clean water, military appreciation, and youth education, according to an NFL press release.
“While I am officially accepting this award, we would not be able to accomplish our goals without the support and participation of countless other individuals,” Long said in a statement. “I am humbled by the support we have received from my peers who have donated to our various matching-campaigns … and the generosity of our fans who have made vital contributions to our foundation over the years.”
Long skipped a 2017 visit to the White House after the New England Patriots, his team at the time, won the Super Bowl.
He also vowed to skip the Eagles’ visit to the White House after their 2018 Super Bowl win, though Trump later disinvited the team.
Long, a native of Charlottesville, Va., has expressed support for NFL players kneeling during the national anthem to protest racial inequality and police brutality.
Long also criticized the NFL for a short-lived policy banning the kneeling protests, saying the league is afraid of Trump.
“This is fear of diminished bottom line,” he said at the time. “It’s also a fear of a president turning his base against a corporation. This is not patriotism. Don’t get confused.”
He donated his 2017 salary to support scholarships in Charlottesville, the site of a violent white nationalist rally in 2017, and other cities where he has played professionally. He was also recognized by sports writers with the “Good Guy Award” in June for his activism on and off the field.
