Carter was born in a rich family and grew up in the life of luxury. Unfortunately in 2008, due to poor management and recession in the global market, the longtime fortune was depleted.
When he was 14 years old, Carter’s family moved into a motel and dramatic lifestyle change, affected his childhood immensely. His parents Horne and Jennifer are both very supportive of him.

Carter auditioned on The Voice with Drinkin’ Problem” by Midland. He coaxed chair turns from Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton. Coach Blake said he sounded nervous early in the performance, but pulled it together nicely. Carter joined team, Blake.
In his Voice bio package, he said he grew up in a well-off family, but that they lost nearly everything in the recession. They wound up living in a motel for a while. During that time, is when he turned to music.
In the past years, Carter has competed in the finale of an undiscovered artist showcase at the Madlife Stage and Studios in Woodstock, Ga. He has also been a featured musician at an Atlanta’s Emerging Artists show at the Hungry Ear Coffeehouse.
Carter once posted on Instagram, a snippet of a fine original back in July, and you might say it’s a special song, the first one he ever wrote. He said the song was inspired by his great grandfather; “It was inspired by my great grandfather’s stories from before he left to fight in World War II,” he wrote. Carter calls it “Darling;” his dad calls it “Soldier Song.”
He says his musical inspiration is Chris Stapleton, Harry Styles, Midland, James Bay, and The Rolling Stones. He describes his original music as “kinda soulful country rock.”
As for his audition song, he told Voice Views “it’s just a fun tongue in cheek song, and I really really enjoy it. Not to mention Midland is one of my favorite bands ever.”
Entering his blind audition, Carter said Blake was actually his last choice for a coach. “But after actually getting to speak to him I was sold. I love that he started coaching me right there on stage when he said there were a few pitch things.”
