Cami Mccormick Biography

Cami McCormick an American  award-winning radio journalist for CBS News who previously worked for CNN. On August 28, 2009 she was injured in Afghanistan when the vehicle in which she was traveling was hit by an improvised explosive device.  Cami worked for CNN as a reporter, writer, producer and anchor from 1994 until 1998. She joined CBS News as a New York-based radio anchor and as a radio correspondent in September 1998.

She spent much of 2014 in Ukraine, and was there when Crimea was annexed by Russia. She went back to eastern Ukraine when Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 was shot down in July of 2014.

She also developed, anchored and produced CNNRadio’s first international newscast, The CNNRadio World News Report. Heard in more than 100 countries, it was the winner of the Edward R. Murrow award for “Best Network Newscast” in 1998.

Cami was injured while in Afghanistan reporting for CBS News on August 28, 2009. She was traveling in a vehicle with members of the United States Army when their vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device (IED).Initially she was treated at a field hospital, where she underwent surgery to stabilize her condition. Cami  then was taken to Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan for additional treatment.  An American serviceman was killed in the same explosion. After she recovered from the injury she has went back to reporting for CBS news. After she  returned to work Cami has covered both the State Department and the Pentagon.
