Barry Levinson is an American filmmaker, screenwriter, and actor. His best His known are mid-budget comedy-drama and drama films such as Diner in 1982, The Natural in 1984, Good Morning, Vietnam in 1987,  Bugsy in 1991, and Wag the Dog in 1997.

He was born on April 6, 1942 ( 76 years as of 2018 ) to his parents Irvin Levinson, father, and mother Violet Krichinsky. His father in the furniture and appliance business. He was from a family of Russian and Jewish descent.

Barry started his work by writing for various shows like The Marty Feldman Comedy Machine, The Lohman and Barkley Show. After seeing some success as a screenwriter he began his career as a director with Diner which earned him an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay. The dinner was four films set the four films that set in Baltimore in Levinson s youth.
His biggest hit was RainMan (1988 ) it was starred by Dustin Hoffman and Tom Cruise. It won four Academy Awards and Best Picture and Best Director. It also got the Golden Bear at the 39th Berlin International Film Festival. Another of his notable films was The Natural starred by Robert Redford.

He also has a television production company with Tom Fontana and served as an executive producer for a number of series; Homicide: Life on the Street on NBC and the prison drama Oz. Barry also played the main role of a short-lived Tv series called The Jury.
Barry is also an author as well. As he published his first novel in2003.
He later developed a film based on Whitey Bulger a Boston Crime Boss.
Barry finished production with The Humbling starring Al Pacino and also directed Rock the Kasbah.
